Seawater - Iodine
Iodine is required to maintain cell functions and build up hormones and antibodies as well as to form tissue.
A lack of Iodine manifests itself, for example, when the polyps of large polyp scleractinia or corallimorpharia no longer expand to full size or their colours fade.

Refraktometre for the Determination of Salinity
Salinity Refractometre FG100sa (ATC*) by Sybon Scientific Instruments
*ATC = Automatic temperature compensation
A refractometre is an optical precision instrument for the exact determination of the optical density or the refraction index of a liquid.
As the refraction index of salt water depends on the salinity of the solution, the refractometre is very handy to measure the salinity in salt tanks quickly and exactly, above all.

Seawater - Magnesium
Magnesium is necessary for the ion balance, and binds the silicic acid within the water. Many invertebrates and soft corals, sea fans, sea urchins, starfish and coralline algae need it to build their skeleton or shell.
The aimed (natural) magnesium content of salt water is approx. 1,350 (1,200 - 1,400) mg/l.
